Direct image delivery

Connect a trail camera to Venaris via SMTP / email

Many cellular trail cameras can send captures directly by email. The camera's individual Venaris ingest address can be used as the recipient instead of a personal inbox.

When is this route useful?

SMTP is useful because no manufacturer-cloud export needs to sit in the middle. The camera can send each capture directly to the configured destination.

Setup

Four steps to analysis

  1. 01

Create the camera in Venaris and copy its individual ingest email address.

  2. 02

Open the camera's SMTP/email settings and configure the sending account.

  3. 03

Use the Venaris address as the photo recipient.

  4. 04

Trigger a test capture and verify camera assignment in Venaris.

Then Venaris takes over

Captures become events and wildlife data.

After ingestion, Venaris separates image noise from wildlife captures, classifies animal images probabilistically and groups related bursts into events. Image analysis is not metered with additional Venaris credits per photo.
